Another long-running internet rumour has been made real today, with official imagery of a Sony Ericsson Walkman phone appearing. There have been many Walkman-branded mobiles from Sony Ericsson over the years, but this is its first Android-powered model.
The W8 is a 3″ capacitive phone in an identical form factor the the budget Xperia X8, only given a colourful makeover and with the iconic Walkman logo stuck on the front. Specs are a little “entry level” with a 600MHz processor and 320×480 display – and Android 2.1.
We can’t find an actual press release from Sony Ericsson itself, but the W8 does appear to have been made official in Asia – and given a Q2 release date. Link via Phandroid.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.
