A report over on Mobile Today is claiming that the very nice looking Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is being hit by stock issues, with ongoing repercussions from the Japanese earthquake impacting on Sony Ericsson’s ability to get the phone out in sufficient quantities.
Carphone Warehouse is quoted as saying “We do currently have stock shortages of the Arc in some of our stores” adding that “we are getting a shipment soon”.
We still love it, although the Next Eurodroid Mobile Phone is looking like being a Samsung Galaxy S II. Followed by an HTC Sensation.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.

/ April 27, 2011Seen the Techradar review of the Galaxy S II?

5 Stars…looks like Samsung are opening a can of whoop on everyone. Shame for poor Sony. The Arc was pretty while it lasted…

/ April 27, 2011I think the Arc still has enough style to impress people when they walk into phone shops and have a play. But the S II is clearly the one for “us”.

/ April 27, 2011i agree, i think the arc would of been the best phone of 2010 by a mile, but if your buying it now, you would probs be ok for 6 months, but if your on a 24 month contract, its going to be outclassed very quickly, as by the time you can upgrade, nevermind dual cores there will be quad core phones out.
The thing for me is i dont want a 4.3inch screen, ive been going back n forth(abit like you on which phone to replace our htc desires with) ive been spoilt as i love htc build quality, but only there senstation has the dual core, and again its 4.3inch so ive come to a final desicion!
LG optimus 2x – now i know there may be better out there, but the ips screen gets top marks, and its got the tegra2, which has become the Soc of choice for android at the minute, all the top apps are tegra optimised. Its only 4inch so its perfect – or neally is.
All the reviews of this phone are quite bad lol, but what swayed me was all the reviews of the lg g2x was very very good. Now the g2x is the same phone, but runs stock android and they say it flys. So a trip over to xda and cm7 is coming out this week for the 2x and you can already overclock it to 1.3/1.4 so with cm7 and overclocked to 1.3 this phone will be a monster!!! – well thats the plan i’l report back lol

/ April 27, 2011Seems a shame to resort to putting a custom OS on a brand new phone. I’d go for the Arc if I was you. Can’t see any actual need for a dual-core phone on the horizon, and that thing is amazing. It’s so thin and slimline it doesn’t *feel* like you’d expect a 4.3″ phone to feel.
I’ve also hated the idea of having phone with extra-large screens, but the Arc won me over. But anyway. It’s your contract and conscience.
