Andy Pad pictured in glorious high resolution

Another piece of the Andy Pad PR jigsaw has just fallen into place, with the company yielding to public pressure and issuing its first proper image of the device, free from clutter like price tags, starbursts and exclamation marks.

Here it/she is, in an image that weighs in at a pleasing 1417×945 resolution.

It’s a little bit more like actually having one.

I find it interesting the official PR shots are without Google Apps whereas their so-called ‘leaked’ pictures show GApps installed. It will be interesting to see whether it is blessed with the Android Market and Google services. I hope the device is of high enough quality to pass the Android compatibility tests. But even if it doesn’t, the Android community will create custom ROMs with the GApps included.

I don’t think it will, Google have been trying to reign it in on tablets, they should be of a certain spec(usually dual core), screen size (usually 10″) & run Android 3.X.
It’s an attempt to stop the flood of poor spec’d tablets that every shop & their guard dog is now selling & damaging the Google brand. If they’re realistically going to compete with the ipad then they have to look & perform as good or better.
The only exception being the HTC flyer, which I think they only got away with the smaller screen due to past associations with Google, but pretty much after release it was announced to have an upgrade to 3.0.
Look at any other tablet of this size & spec, none have the Gapps.
The Galaxy Tab only got away with it because it cam out before 3.0. and now they pretend it’s just a big phone.

It won’t have the market out of the box but there will be a way to add the market and other Google apps through the back door. MoDaCo will see to that!

Someone recently asked on their twitter & got a reply:
“We’re working with Google to ensure the Android Marketplace”
