The imminent launch of Samsung’s new Galaxy Tab 10.1 is going to be a rather confusing affair, as the hardware maker is planning to launch an unbelievable TWELVE separate memory/radio versions of the new Android tablet in the UK.
According to the individual listings over at Dixons, you’ll be able to buy black or white versions of the 10.1, with each model also coming in 3G and wi-fi only options. Which means you can have any of the below configurations:
- 16GB, wi-fi only, black
- 16GB, wi-fi only, white
- 16GB, 3G, black
- 16GB, 3G, white
- 32GB, wi-fi only, black
- 32GB, wi-fi only, white
- 32GB, 3G, black
- 32GB, 3G, white
- 64GB, wi-fi only, black
- 64GB, wi-fi only, white
- 64GB, 3G, black
- 64GB, 3G, white
Absolutely insane. A total logistical nightmare for the boys in the warehouse. The August 4th launch date only applies to the cheaper black & white wi-fi only models, which will arrive on that day for £399.
The 3G models and the larger capacity variants will launch throughout August, with the top-spec 64GB 3G model costing a whopping £659.99 and arriving on August 23rd.

A slim and glamorous phone from Sony Ericsson, with the sharpest display around. It’s no powerhouse and the screen’s not the biggest out there, but we don’t mind. Because it’s cute.
LG’s first glasses-free 3D phone is a heavy, fat monster, with a clever 3D effect that works rather well. As a smartphone, though, it’s heavy and underwhelming.
A very shiny thing from Sony Ericsson, with a 3.7″ screen and Android 2.3.3 inside. But is it exciting enough to win fans in today’s spec-obsessed market? Can man live on one core alone?
INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.

/ July 27, 2011I know a lot of tech and R&D goes into these puppies, but £660?!? Never mind a netbook, you can buy a decent laptop for that sort of cash. Android tablet manufacturers need to stop trying to be the next Apple / create the next iPad-killer as this can never happen. They need to concentrate on producing decent iPad-spec-comparable tech at a price that will attract the masses, not pee them off. I love my Transformer, but I wouldn’t pay more than £400 for it.

These prices match the ipad, whether they should be undercutting the ipad is another story, friends on the strength of the demand for an android tablet. Btw I have the transformer too, wouldn’t trade it for anything, no laptop gives 16 hours battery life I get.
