The crazy situation between Apple and Samsung continues to spiral out of all control, with a new court ruling today declaring that Samsung must pull several of its Galaxy-class Android phones from sale in Europe from October.
The latest case revolves around design patents, with a judge in The Hague ruling that the Galaxy S, S II and Ace infringe upon Apple’s patents for scrolling, taps and the workings of the unlock screen.
Wipe that smile off your face, Daisy. This one’s very serious. Obviously we’ve been here before with the Galaxy Tab 10.1 EU ban then the subsequent prompt reinstatement, so don’t go panic-buying Galaxy S II stock just yet. It may all blow over.

LG’s first glasses-free 3D phone is a heavy, fat monster, with a clever 3D effect that works rather well. As a smartphone, though, it’s heavy and underwhelming.
A very shiny thing from Sony Ericsson, with a 3.7″ screen and Android 2.3.3 inside. But is it exciting enough to win fans in today’s spec-obsessed market? Can man live on one core alone?
INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.

/ August 24, 2011Actually, Apple mostly lost this one. It’s a pretty good result for Samsung. The unlock screen and copying the general look and feel stuff got thrown out. The only thing left was the precise manner in which you swish between two images, which Honeycomb does differently (possibly standard Android does it differently from Samsung’s Touchwiz too, not sure about that.)
