Samsung has just announced some rather spectacular sales data for its stunning Galaxy S II Android phone, claiming it’s now sold 10 million of the skinny dual-core phones around the world. It’s hit the milestone quicker than any other Samsung phone, as you might expect, figures made all the more impressive by the lack of a proper US launch until very recently.
Here’s Samsung’s little statement. Europe would appear to have bought the most units, if our maths is correct:
Samsung Electronics said on September 25 that its global flagship smartphone Galaxy S2 has set a record of ten million global sales only 5 months after its release. With this record, Galaxy S2 has become the fastest ten million sold Samsung phone in all time, breaking the records of the company’s previous international hit models Star Phone and Galaxy S which took 6 and 7 months respectively for ten million sales. For regional sales records for Galaxy S2, 3.6 million units have been sold in Korea, followed by 3.4 million in Europe and 2.3 million in Asia.

Motorola’s latest flagship dual-core Android monster is a massive, original powerhouse, that’s a big improvement on previous MOTOBLUR mobiles – but still isn’t a total winner.
A slim and glamorous phone from Sony Ericsson, with the sharpest display around. It’s no powerhouse and the screen’s not the biggest out there, but we don’t mind. Because it’s cute.
LG’s first glasses-free 3D phone is a heavy, fat monster, with a clever 3D effect that works rather well. As a smartphone, though, it’s heavy and underwhelming.
A very shiny thing from Sony Ericsson, with a 3.7″ screen and Android 2.3.3 inside. But is it exciting enough to win fans in today’s spec-obsessed market? Can man live on one core alone?
INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.
