The Android version of Minecraft, which is currently still currently an Xperia PLAY exclusive, is set to launch on the Android Market for everyone else to use to play with – with a launch date of September 29th now attached to the mobile remake of the modern PC legend.
To get you in the mood, series creator Mojang has put together a demonstration video showing us how the rather complex world-creating game will operate on a standard Android touchscreen. It’ll operate just like this:
So there’s an on-screen d-pad, plus an “auto jump” feature to make it easier to place blocks beneath your imaginary feet. Looks perfectly workable, and should help Minecraft Pocket break out of the “5000 – 10000″ downloads category it’s currently languishing in on the Android Market.

/ September 27, 2011I hate virtual gamepads – more power to you if you can use’em but I just don’t think they’re suited to touchscreen games.
I’ve spent hundreds of hours in Minecraft but I can’t imagine having any fun playing it on my Vega or phone.
