A man representing memory card retail specialist MemoryCardZoo.com sent us one of these. It’s an 8GB microSDHC card, which Samsung says is “Full HD Compliant” thanks to its upper-middle-range Class 6 data transfer speeds. It also comes with many toughness claims and a five-year warranty.
We have absolutely no idea how to review an SD card, apart from putting it into a telephone and seeing if it works…
It works. Using the SD Tools app from the Android Market, it gave us data transfer speeds of 9.3MBps when writing data and nearly 20MBps reading.
This particular model of card is also designated as being water proof, shock proof and even magnet proof, so we’ll also test some of those claims out as well.
That’s it in a cup of tea. It doesn’t float, so it’s being suspended on a toothbrush. We thought it would float, because it’s light and plastic. But it sank. That’s not a criticism of the SD card.
It still works. The tea was ruined, though. Well, actually, the tea was probably fine, but by the time we’d taken the photos and uploaded them to PC, it was cold and tasted a bit minty because of the toothbrush. That’s not the SD card’s fault. It’s not a criticism of the SD card.
So yes, it’s fast and water (tea) proof. It would therefore appear to be a good type of microSD card, if you have a need for a replacement SD card and don’t mind paying a few extra quid for the Samsung brand name and the peace of mind of it being tea resistant.
So that’s a review of an SD card. 8/10.

A very shiny thing from Sony Ericsson, with a 3.7″ screen and Android 2.3.3 inside. But is it exciting enough to win fans in today’s spec-obsessed market? Can man live on one core alone?
INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.

/ October 24, 2011That actually seems half-tempting at that price (not that I’ve shopped around to check prices or anything sensible like that, just that a tenner for a brand-name card is almost impulse purchase price) and I often wonder if my Hero is being slow because of the shonky old 2gb card I’ve got stuffed in it.
The main thing that’s stopping me though is not knowing what temperature the tea was when it was first immersed and did it include sugar?
