Retailer Phones4U has just this afternoon confirmed plans to start selling the new Galaxy Nexus from 8.00am tomorrow morning, with the company’s Oxford Street shop being the first place IN THE ENTIRE WORLD where users will be able to pick up the phone.
And as if we needed any more encouragement, Samsung is giving the first 100 buyers a £250 voucher which will enable to buyers to download “content” through the phone. There will also be free food.
There’s no use of the word “exclusive” in the announcement, though, so if you have an order with an alternate retailer or through a network you may get lucky when the postman arrives. And here, to officially end the debate once and for all, is the press release:
PHONES 4u LONDON STORE WILL BE THE FIRST IN THE WORLD TO SELL THE GALAXY NEXUS FROM TOMORROW
London, 16.11.11 – Phones 4u is proud to announce that from 8am tomorrow morning, 17th November 2011, its Oxford Street store (112/114 Oxford Street, London, W1D 1LS) will be the first in the world where consumers can get their hands on the much anticipated Galaxy Nexus, the world’s FIRST Android™ 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone.
At the store’s early opening from 8am, customers will have a chance to be among the first people in the world to own a Galaxy Nexus. Staff will be offering a delicious breakfast to queuing customers, eager to finally get their hands on the phone.
The first 100 purchases of the Galaxy Nexus will come with a £250 voucher for free movies, music and film content to enjoy on the handset.
Samsung will be taking over the store at 112 Oxford Street and a team of Samsung demonstrators will be on hand to take customers through the features of the handset and answer any questions.
It is sure to be a busy day as consumers clamour to get hold of the handset and Phones 4u will be serving actual ice cream sandwiches from 11am to cool down the crowds as Galaxy Nexus fever takes hold.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.

/ November 16, 2011That’s good news. Wonder if they’ll be doing it on PAYG or forcing people to take up contracts like P4U?

/ November 16, 2011Vodafone still know nothing about the phone from speaking to them today. Quite embarrassing that neither shop staff or phone staff have even heard of it.
