We’ve just received a report from a reader claiming the Galaxy Nexus suffers from an odd software bug, which randomly drops the phone’s volume down to zero. Obviously this means all the notification alerts and alarms are silenced, rendering some of its features rather useless.
Here’s what’s up:
“Got my Galaxy Nexus yesterday, and while it’s mostly great, there’s a pretty massive flaw which makes it almost unusable as a phone: the volume seems to randomly drop down, which means all notifications are silenced.
“It’s happened to me more times than I can count, and other users are experiencing the same issue”
There are threads about the Nexus’ apparent volume problem on both the XDA forum and the Android Forums, so it doesn’t appear to be a one-off, trouser-based touchscreen accident. Do we have any early-adopting Galaxy Nexus owners out there with such an issue?
Thanks to Damo for the tip.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.

/ November 19, 2011Hasn’t happened to me yet. I got mine on Thursday. Maybe I’ve just been lucky so far.

/ November 19, 2011That’s bad. Perhaps it’s an incompatibility with a certain app?

/ November 19, 2011Yeah, have the same problem; at first I thought I was accidently pressing the volume down key when holding the phone but then realisedit’s doing it by itself…

/ November 20, 2011Yeah. Im getting the same thing. Not touching any buttons and the volume will just drop for no reason what so ever. The phone is amazing apart from this flaw.
