We couldn’t quite believe it when HTC Turkish Facebook page and a few commenters mentioned the fact that the humble Wildfire S was due an upgrade to Android 2.3.5 – but it is. In fact, it already has, with the 2.3.5 update now live across Europe.
The trade off comes from memory limitations of the Wildfire S, with HTC not updating HTC Sense in the same way it did with the Desire HD and Incredible S update – all you get on the Wildfire S is 2.3.5 with HTC Sense 2.1 and the new interactive lock screen…
…plus those who’ve updated the phone are finding themselves with less available memory for apps, as was the trade-off with the HTC Desire 2.3 update. But at least it’s out there. Do let us know if you’re an excited Wildfire S owner currently in the throes of an OS upgrade.

LG’s first glasses-free 3D phone is a heavy, fat monster, with a clever 3D effect that works rather well. As a smartphone, though, it’s heavy and underwhelming.
A very shiny thing from Sony Ericsson, with a 3.7″ screen and Android 2.3.3 inside. But is it exciting enough to win fans in today’s spec-obsessed market? Can man live on one core alone?
INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.

/ December 14, 2011Typo alert. HTC doesn’t have a turkey operation. As for updates, I’ve had 2.3.7 in the shape of cm7.1 for 2 months now on a Vodafone Smart and the thing runs like a dream. The important thing is to root and remove abominations like google maps that take up precious ram.

Reason I’m here is to verify its’ authenticity, clearly it is genuine. A small concern is that there isn’t enough internal storage space available and I’m reluctant to wipe off my office reader to make room for it. Just finished download… Wow, ‘Pull Ring to Unlock’… Time to play….
