PopCap launching Plants vs Zombies & Peggle next week

We have been here before. PopCap’s amazingly popular casual games are already sort of available on Android, thanks to a long-running exclusive to distribute them via the Amazon Appstore. Which means they’re only available to Android users in the US.

But! According to a PopCap blog post today, the mainstream titles will arrive on the proper Android Market at some point this week, with us poor RotW consumers finally getting the chance to consume its products.

That’s PvZ on Android. It’s yet another tower defence game. We could really do with more of those, eh? Peggle’s a physics thing. We haven’t played either of them, as you may be able to tell.

It’s not just A tower defense game, THE tower defense game (aside from of course the mighty king of Tower Defense game Pixeljunk Monsters, which criminally isn’t out on anything but PSN for PSP and PS3).

I didn’t realise it was a proper game. I assumed it was some sort of Facebook freemium farming rip-off piece of tat. I’ll give it a go.

  3. Been playing PvZ and Peggle on and off for years on PC. Peggle is a lot of fun – it’s kinda like Breakout meets pinball. There’ll be a PC demo version on the Popcap website for both games if you’re curious about them but don’t want to spend money. I’m a big fan of Popcap. They do some great kids games as well, like Bookworm Adventures.

  4. Unfortunately the Android version has a serious bug when you get to the roof levels.
The zombies appear in one lane and yet are in another.

EA & popcap seem to be taking their sweet time in fixing it.
