Lots of Android users have been trying and failing to download Sonic CD today, which is quite a remarkable fact given it’s an ancient game not many people bothered buying or playing at the time.
There’s been such an outcry from SEGA fans that the company has issued a statement on the download problems, claiming the rush for Sonic CD caused its server to max out, forcing the publisher to up its bandwidth allocation. Here’s SEGA’s excuses:
In the past day, some of you may have experienced issues downloading Sonic CD where the app would sit indefinitely at 0% completion. Unfortunately, our content servers were running at capacity!
We are thrilled that Sonic CD is in such demand, but apologize for any inconvenience that this has caused users. We have now increased our server bandwidth tenfold to accommodate download traffic and the issue should now be resolved!
Modern SEGA release in “high demand” shocker.
It’s like the glory months of 1992 all over again.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.
