Sonic CD now available on Android

SEGA’s fantastic 2D audiovisual treat is now playable on Android, with SEGA of America launching the full version of Sonic CD on the Android Market. Despite recently saying the game wouldn’t launch for Google phones until early 2012, it’s there now. It’s here, for £1.29.

There’s a rather huge 270MB of data to download before you can play it, though, so you might want to steal someone’s wi-fi if you’re planning on getting it today. But if that means CD-quality versions of the genre-defining Japanese soundtrack, we’re not complaining.

Literally cannot believe we are able to play this through official channels on a mobile telephone. In terms of upgrades, you can play as Sonic’s muse Tails and it’s been given a 16:9 aspect ratio refresh. But at least SEGA hasn’t shaded or fiddled with the pixels. Looks as good as ever.
