Asus UK has today launched a pre-order campaign for its exciting new quad-core Eee Transformer Prime Android tablet, claiming the thing should be available to pre-order from your usual range of gadgety retailers.
The only ones we’ve found with live pre-order pages so far are Ebuyer, which says it expects the Transformer Prime to arrive from January 12th, plus Expansys is now taking orders too. To make things a little different and justify the £499 launch price, Asus is bundling the keyboard dock in with all units. Doesn’t look like there’s going to be a tablet-only option at launch.
The Prime will arrive running Android 3.2, but Asus UK confirms that an update to Android 4.0 via the usual over-the-air system will hit soon after launch.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.

/ December 16, 2011Rumours are it will be sold by John Lewis as well. Considering all seem to be charging £499.99 and if JL charges the same I will go there since they offer a free extended warranty of 2 years on all tablets (versus the 1 year at every other company).
