Time for our near-regular weekend summary of the Android world, in which we highlight the leftover news stories we didn’t write about over the last week.

It’s a collection of the ones we didn’t think good enough at the time, all rolled into one. Not sure if that makes everything better or worse.

Android has a ‘Dude’ problem
This is such a big problem that Android will make Google $1bn this year.

Next Android Release To Be Called ‘Ice Cream’
That’s interesting. Well done on writing 380 words about that. Can anyone find a site that wrote up this single, two-word rumour in more than 380 words? We’ll send them a certificate of merit.

Why Windows Phone 7 Will Make Android Look Chaotic
There’s no need for this sort of thing from a site like Wired. Leave this sort of shameful system advocacy to… us.

Huawei IDEOS review
It used to be a contender, before the San Francisco blew it away. Hurry up and get it in the shops, Huawei. Your window of opportunity is closing.

Analyst says Android tablets will beat iPad. Is he right?
We’d say “probably not” as we’re expecting the tablet bubble to burst pretty soon, when people realise suddenly they’re not as good as laptops yet cost much more.

Android set to bring real money poker to phones
Could be more financially devastating than an HTC Desire HD monthly tariff.

Are we supposed to be excited about the Chrome OS? Or is it an ENEMY? Personally speaking, we’ll be giving it a go.

Sound interesting, but no one’s going to bother with it, are they?

That really is about it. There’s nothing else, unless we start listing other people’s list features. See you next week.

Here’s our weekly summary of the news stories we didn’t cover this week, along with some of the more interesting mentions Android has picked up in other places over the last seven days.

What didn’t we do? This lot.

Dell’s 7-inch Android Tablet is a Snoozer So Far
They keep making tablets, we keep shrugging our shoulders and not being excited about them whatsoever. Unless we’re pretending for internet traffic rank purposes, of course :(

Sony Ericsson abandons Symbian for Android and WP7
SE said Android is “definitely our focus” going forwards. But we didn’t fancy spinning that one quote out into a whole news piece.

Analyst: Android to pass Nokia in 2012, half billion handsets by 2015
Some big numbers. We should’ve mentioned this. Makes very bad reading for Nokia.

This current 3D trend is such a nonsense. How many 3D revivals have you lived through so far? This is my third.

Sounds like a silly idea, really. And what happened to that INQ/Spotify phone that was rumoured last year?

We’ll give up there for today. Apologies for the half-hearted nature of this week’s summary. It’s a nice day and we really should get out and strim the garden.

We’re done for another week, and shall be spending the rest of the day trying not to think about possible future model names for Huawei handsets.

We’ll leave you with our regular Sunday round-up of the stories we didn’t cover this week, along with the more interesting mentions Android picked up from the mainstream media.

Google: ‘Android not optimised for tablets’
It is a little strange that many of the forthcoming Android tablets won’t allow access to the Android Market.

Samsung Electronics May Use Google’s Android Software in TVs
We’re sure Samsung is considering lots of things. We’ll mention them when they look like actually happening and there’s an associated image.

That’ll do. We’re getting bitter and are in trouble enough already. See you next week, everyone.

It was an exciting week, if you’re into the whole tablet scene. The IFA tech show was packed with new ways to play with Android on screens between 7″ and 10″, topped off nicely by the official unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

But what else happened this week apart from this massive ejaculation of Android tablets? This lot. The news we didn’t cover over the last seven days.

ViewSonic Puts Windows 7, Android on 10-inch Tablet
Still not bothered about tablets. Is there something wrong with us?

Keep Making (the) Tablets
The Sun did a round-up of tablets. The headline on the main page was the rather clever “Keep Making the Tablets” but for some reason the “the” was dropped for the actual story. So it didn’t really work. Anyway…

LG Optimus Pad Unveiled, Super Thin and Running Android
That thing LG’s been dropping BIG HINTS about for months appeared. The pictures are rubbish. And there are no specs or sizes.

Even The Sun is excited about the Huawei IDEOS! That Huawei fan site we’re working on is going to be MASSIVE.

Microsoft: Android Hidden Costs Are Expensive
Probably lies. Couldn’t be bothered reading it. Google has enough money for anything.

Will Samsung dump Windows Phone 7 for Android?
The quotes they use certainly make it sound pretty likely, outside of the odd token Windows Phone 7 handset.

Can’t wait for this. All the Android syncing/streaming apps out there are going to get NUKED.

Including the rather surprising fact that Sony Ericsson currently has 17% of the Android phone market.

Time for our lazy Sunday stroll through the Android news of the last week, in which we feature the news stories we didn’t do as a sort of punishment for not trying hard enough at the time.

So here’s the biggest news we didn’t report over the last seven days, along with the more interesting mentions Android picked up from the mainstream media.

Game advocate DeLoura departs Google after 4 months
Oh dear. We remember him joining as if it was yesterday. Sounds like he was getting bullied, or perhaps didn’t like the commute? Or his desk position?

Revealed: Android Honeycomb next up from Google
A nice scoop from Team Techradar. We didn’t fancy having to base a whole story around the revelation of one word, though. We’re not Orson Welles.

Texting World Record Broken on Samsung Galaxy S
It can’t have been much of a world record to begin with, if a woman in a supermarket beat it after being asked to try as a PR stunt. What happened next? Did she beat Usain Bolt in an impromptu 100m race around some traffic cones in the car park?

Didn’t follow this one at all. Suspect it was largely nonsense blown out of all proportion?

This Android Tablet Doesn’t Need Glasses for 3D
Not convinced there’s any sort of market for tablets or 3D. Putting them together won’t help.

ViewSonic Android tablet: Pictures emerge
Those buttons don’t look like Android icons, but then it’s possible ViewSonic doesn’t get the most up-to-date branding emails from Google.

We’ve noticed that Hotmail now auto-refreshes itself in the desktop web browser already. No idea how Exchange works, though. We’ll read up on it.

So here we are, on a Sunday, head slightly spinning from the week’s information OVERLOAD, writing up a summary of the Android news we didn’t write about over the last seven days. What did we miss? What did we ignore?

And what did we not write about because we didn’t quite understand the implications of it and we didn’t want to look silly in public? This lot. The residue of the week.

Dual-core processors for future LG phones, courtesy of Nvidia. We probably should’ve mentioned this. It would’ve been a good excuse to use yet more sexy LG photos.

Time for our list-based summary of the Android news WE DID NOT cover this week, in which we round up the Android-based reports we skipped – and marvel at the stranger mentions of Google’s OS in the mainstream press.

So what have we missed and ignored this week? This lot. In no particular order of importance:

Oracle sues Google in dispute over Android
A bit too tech for us. It’s just the usual tale of rich people shuffling their millions about, anyway, isn’t it? Nothing will change. Nothing ever changes.

Android phones vulnerable to oil smudge attacks
Amazing. Consumer magazine Which? did something on the Android 2.x unlock pattern finger smudge security vulnerability! They call it the “smudge attack” so it sounds serious.

iPhone users ‘have more sex’ than Android users
Some nice quotes in here about Namco’s views on Android. The networks throwing money at it should guarantee success, basically.

Yet more stats. But we did enough stats this week.

Here’s our weekly summary of the Android news we didn’t write about this week, along with a collection of the more interesting mainstream mentions picked up by Google’s Android OS over the last seven days.

The hardest part about this update is coming up with new ways to phrase that opening paragraph every week. Here’s the list.

Nexus One gets new life for Android developers
Started writing this, then realised it was crushingly boring. You’ve got to know when to fold.

Motorola To Launch Android Based TV Tablet
We should’ve mentioned this. That report goes into quite a lot of detail. Sounds great, to be fair, as long as Motorola gets the design right. Motorola’s design history is a little… patchy.

All UK Samsung Galaxy S Owners To Receive Android 2.2 By End Of September
No offense, anyone who wrote about this during the week, but we wrote about it the first time Samsung said it back on July 29. We win at spending the most time staring at Twitter :(

And hopefully for Microsoft it’ll manage to sell more units than Kin.

Yes, what the Android spec is really missing is… printing abilities.

That’ll do. The only other news we can see now is stuff about rubbish apps no one will actually use and e-books. The weather’s too nice to be sat here pretending to be interesting in e-books.

Time for our Sunday morning punishment – rounding up all the Android news stories we didn’t bother covering this week. The news that was too boring, too geeky, or based on too flimsy an assumption for a proper write up, plus some of the more interesting mentions of the OS in the mainstream media.

It’s the unglamorous 3rd/4th place play-off of Android news.

This announcement even made the papers – but still hasn’t arrived at time of writing :(

Don’t really care if my mobile numbers are being harvested by a Chinese spam merchant. What are they going to do with them? Phone my grandad?

We stuck this up on the old Twitter account this week, but here it is again – The Daily Mail does Android sales stories now. Amazing. *Once again gets sidetracked by Christine Bleakley photos*

Not quite as excited about the EVO as we were a few months back, as we currently favour one of those new Motorolas as our next new Android phone.

Nice little piece about the development of the two OS systems and their HUGELY different end results.

Interesting review of the super-cheap Android tablet that’s being sold for $150 in the mega-discount US retail chain Kmart. Resistive screen “FTL” as they say on the internet.

And that’ll do for now, unless you’d like us to start providing links to news about apps to start the ignition systems of niche American automobiles?

Time for our leisurely look at what didn’t trouble our news threshold this week, along with a fully integrated summary of some of the more mainstream mentions Android picked up from other wings of the media over the last seven days.

It’s an easy list feature, staple of the modern internet.

AOL HTML 5 Portal And Exclusive Android App
Surely there isn’t much of a demographic crossover between Android and AOL users? We would like to see the Venn diagram that prompted the development of this app.

How fragmented is the Android market? Google isn’t quite saying
Man who doesn’t seem to quite ‘get it’ tries to complain about… nothing. Odd.

Samsung dispatching free Galaxy S handsets to iPhone 4 whiners on Twitter?
What a strange world we live in. Samsung’s little Twitter spree of Galaxy S freebies WENT GLOBAL on the news scene.

We manage to struggle through about one book a year. And this probably isn’t available in Europe, right?

Lenovo plans Android tablet PC in growth push
Should’ve mentioned this, but find it hard to get excited about things Lenovo has to say, for some reason.

MOG finally launches its iPhone and Android apps
MOG is not available in Europe. We’re starting to get good at checking this before hurriedly writing up press releases.

Verizon Beats Estimates on Demand for Droid Phones
Nearly mentioned this, but weren’t in the mood to use lots of exclamation marks this week, to be honest.

Raytheon Android Tactical System
This is officially the Worst News Story of the Week(TM). Raytheon announced this back in 2009, and even then it sounded like a stupid, publicity-grabbing gimmick.

Adobe worker changes FlashTime name, which sounds a lot like Apple’s FaceTime
No matter how many times the idea gets reinvented, video calling will always be a terrible idea.

Man, we’re angry today. Fortunately, the time allocated for the creation of this update has now ended. See you all later.
